Atomic Habits provides a framework called the Four Laws of Behavior Change to build good habits. Implementing good habits helps us achieve remarkable results through small, daily changes.
Let’s review the Four Laws and how we can implement Atomic Habits with our customers for results.
Law 1: Cue – Make it Obvious
Atomic Habits suggests an implementation intention to consistently work towards our goals such as: I will (behavior) at (time) in (location).
We can work with our customers to define specific plans on when and how they will use our product to work toward their goals.
Law 2: Craving – Make it Attractive
We can get more comfortable with a habit by joining a culture where our desired behavior is the normal behavior according to Atomic Habits.
CSMs can help our customers be part of their desired state by helping form a culture around our product with cadence calls, content resources and connecting customers with our product community.
Law 3: Response: Make It Easy
Atomic Habits’ 2-minute rule means you reduce your daily habit until it can be done in two minutes or less.
We can encourage our customers to work in our product or review our resources for a minimum amount each day. This helps our solution stay familiar, builds confidence in using our tools and helps our customers gain experience with our product.
Law 4: Reward – Make It Satisfying
Rewards reinforce a good habit and help us stay with our routine.
CSMs can help our customers see the value in rewards by celebrating mini wins and helping customers see the progress they are making towards their goals.
Atomic Habits’ Four Laws of Behavior Change can give CSMs ideas on how to guide our customers to results by make use of our product obvious, attractive, easy and satisfying.
