My wife shared the phrase “tayo, tayo” with me which can be translated as “us, together” from her native language Tagalog.
For example, she may use the phrase to mean “we will do this together.”
Let’s review “us” and “together” to learn how “tayo, tayo” can be a mindset for working with our customers.
The “Us” Part: The CSM and the Customer
Our business relationship is made up of ourselves as the CSM, and our customer.
The CSM brings items such as knowledge, guidance and planning with our product.
The customer provides their objectives and challenges that guide our journey as well as internal resources to help the CSM carryout the plans.
We take our individual roles and combine them to form “us” as partners ready to work together toward our common goal.
The “Together” Part: Working as a Team Toward Our Goals
The CSM and customer go forward together.
Each side follows through on their responsibilities and promises.
We work though the ups and downs of pursuing a goal and adjust and reform our partnership to meet new challenges.
The CSM and customer drive each other forward – the customer continues to share their priorities and the CSM supports with guidance and planning.
Why “Tayo, Tayo” Is Important
Tayo, tayo is the idea that the customer and CSM get things done together.
We create synergy by combining our talents and resources.
The connection brings the benefits of a creative partnership as we brainstorm and collaborate together towards milestones.
Wrapping Things Up with One from U2
In Bono from U2’s book Surrender, he recounts the lyrics for their hit song One.
One life, but we’re not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
One, one.
These lyrics are a good representation for “tayo, tayo” and “us, together.” The CSM and customer are unique yet we come together and carry each other in partnership towards our goal as one.
